Word Guess

Player’s guide

One secret five-letter word, six chances to find it. Every guess you make is graded letter by letter, and the trick is squeezing the most information out of each row. Everyone plays the same word, with a new one at midnight UTC.

  1. 1

    Make a guess

Type with your keyboard or the on-screen keys and press Enter. Every guess must be a real five-letter word — the row shakes if the dictionary doesn’t know it, and the guess isn’t spent. You have six rows to find the answer.
  2. 2

    Read the colours

After each guess the tiles flip and grade every letter:

Green — W is in the word and in the right spot.

Yellow — I is in the word, but somewhere else.

Gray— U isn’t in the word at all.

  3. 3

    Mind repeated letters

Feedback counts each copy of a letter once. If your guess has two E’s but the answer holds only one, just one of them is coloured — the other stays gray. Two coloured E’s, on the other hand, promise the answer really has two.
  4. 4

    Play the odds

The on-screen keyboard remembers every verdict, so eliminated letters go dark — trust it over your memory. The clock runs from Play to your final guess, and the results panel shows how today’s players spread across one to six guesses.
Tip: Open with a vowel-heavy word like STARE or AUDIO to survey the field, then make every later guess test fresh letters — replaying gray ones spends a row to learn nothing.
